HOLIDAY CARDS
This Halloween card was created after an idea of throwing a children's Halloween party. I wanted it to feel light, festive and playful.
The ghost's are the only graphic. I picked ghosts because they feel the most "Halloweeny" to me. I wanted to layer them so that they were see through.
There are three different typefaces on this card. The typeface used for Halloween reminded me of Frankenstein. I found that it was the most appropriate for the title and stood out. The "subhead", date and location are another typeface. I liked how there really was no baseline for these, it gave a playful look. The last typeface reminded me of aliens for some reason. I liked that the letters had different thicknesses and looked almost hand written.
I made this Christmas card during the best time of the year. I wanted something simple that included more color than I usually use. A tree seemed like a simple way to portray the meaning without going too over-the-top. The shadow added more dimension to the image. The gradients in the sky also adds a more realistic background. I wanted to use a more calligraphic typeface for this so that it felt elevated. I incorporated red into it because that is a very traditional Christmas color.
